Campaign enters final stretch with 1M+ cash on hand
Warrenton, VA - Today, Leslie Cockburn, Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia's 5th District, announces her campaign raised another $1,140,628.22 during the 3rd quarter of 2018 and currently has $1,036,049.37 cash on hand. With the support of a volunteer force of thousands and consistently high fundraising totals through the Democratic Primary and General Election cycle; 5th district democrats are rising in support of Leslie Cockburn.
Leslie has raised these funds without taking a single penny from Corporate-PAC's. Instead, the Cockburn campaign is supported by 51,962 individual contributions with an average gift of $46.87. To date, the Cockburn campaign has raised a total of $2,435,636.19, nearly triple her opponent, from supporters motivated by Leslie's inclusive message of affordable healthcare, better public education, and leveling the economic playing field.
"Democrats, Independents, and fed-up Republicans are turning out in record numbers because they know Leslie Cockburn will bring to bear a chorus of voices in Congress, rather than represent, as Riggleman would, the specials interests of a small number of corporations with undue influence," said campaign manager Louise Bruce. "Once again, we're seeing the results of Leslie's tireless efforts in the 5th. Fifteen months of listening and speaking to voters across the district has energized a groundswell.
